Senior Management

Datuk Captain Izham bin Ismail is an Executive Director of Malaysia Airlines Berhad. He currently holds the position of Group Managing Director of the Malaysia Aviation Group and Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad. He has 40 years of experience in the aviation industry, having started his career with Malaysia Airlines as a pilot in 1979.

Appointed to a management position just 10 years after joining Malaysia Airlines, Datuk Captain Izham moved up the ranks over the years and has held various management positions such as Executive Vice President of Flight Operations, Director of Operations and Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Malaysia Airlines. Izham also served as CEO of MASwings, Malaysia Airlines’ sister company in Sabah and Sarawak, between July and November 2016.

Apart from his extensive aviation experience, Izham has also served as a Board member of Hamilton Sunstrand Malaysia and GE Engine Services Malaysia. He currently serves as Chairman of the National Aviation Council and Board member of Tourism Malaysia.

As a pilot, Datuk Captain Izham broke world aviation records when he flew Malaysia Airlines’ first Boeing 777-200 eastward from Seattle to Kuala Lumpur and back. The flight set new world records for longest flight and fastest round-the-world flight by a commercial airliner, with a total flight time of 41 hours 59 minutes over a distance of 23,310 miles.

Boo Hui Yee was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group in Jan 2023. Her current responsibilities include effective risk management and strategic financial planning of the organisation. Prior to this role, Hui Yee was the Group Chief Financial Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad since May 2018.

She holds a professional accounting qualification (ACCA) with more than 25 years of experience across various disciplines in finance and has been with Malaysia Airlines for over 13 years. Her achievements include the successful implementation of multiple systems and improvement initiatives. She spent one year as one of the Track Leads in the MAS Restructuring Office, leading and supporting the MAS transition to the new airline. Prior to her promotion to GCFO of Malaysia Airlines, she led the Planning and Performance Management department in Malaysia Airlines, overseeing the group’s planning, tax planning & compliance, management reporting and statutory reporting.

Prior to joining Malaysia Airlines, Hui Yee was with Vsource Ltd, a BPO company, as a Senior Solution Manager. She also spent 14 years in Singapore, working in various accounting and finance roles in various industries.

Bryan Foong was appointed Group Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group in January 2023, overseeing Group’s corporate strategy, network and fleet planning. Before that, Bryan is the Group Chief Strategy Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad.

A senior corporate leader experienced in strategy and corporate planning, Bryan is no stranger to the field, having undertaken similar roles in several companies before, most recently under Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels. While there, Bryan was responsible for corporate and strategic planning, project conceptualisation and investment feasibility studies, asset performance management, and strategic partnerships. He also served a prior stint at Malaysia Airlines between 2007 to 2012, where he last held the position of Head of Strategy.

Bryan holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Cranfield University School of Management, UK and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast, UK. He started his career in Proton before moving to Mitsubishi Motors Japan, Ernst & Young, and Sunway Group.

Dato' Khalis was appointed the Group Chief Human Capital Officer (GCHCO) of Malaysia Aviation Group overseeing the human capital management in January 2023. He joined Malaysia Airlines Berhad in January 2018.

He has extensive exposure in human capital management, having served in several multinational companies and a large GLC for over 27 years in the field of human resource management across different industries. Dato' Khalis has been involved in various disciplines of the profession, from organisational development and change management to performance management, industrial relations, HR reengineering, and talent development. Prior to joining Malaysia Airlines, Dato' Khalis was the Chief Human Capital Officer of Telekom Malaysia Berhad.

He holds a Masters in Human Resource Management from the University of Canberra, Australia and a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Applied Psychology from Coventry University, in the United Kingdom. Dato' Khalis is a Certified Advance Human Resource Professional (CAHRP) from the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management and is a Certified Business and Executive Coach from the University of Malaya Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCed). He is also an alumnus of IMD, Switzerland.

Lau Yin May was appointed Group Chief Marketing Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group in January 2023. Prior to this, she was the Group Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad since April 2019.

In May 2018, Yin May joined Malaysia Airlines as Head of Customer Experience bringing with her more than 17 years of leadership and management expertise in business strategy, management consulting, commercial, marketing communications and operations in diversified industries.

An accountant by education, Yin May holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business, majoring in Accounting, from Monash University. She started her career as a management consultant with Accenture, focusing on Financial Services with crucial projects that included Mergers and Acquisitions, Business Process Reengineering and Corporate Restructuring. She has also held portfolios in the advertising, marketing and communications field with GroupM and a few other industries, including hospitality, education, property development and retail and even started her career with the airline in 2004, focusing on project management and turnaround initiatives. She was also part of the pioneer team that set up Firefly and oversaw the setup of the airline's travel arm, Firefly Holidays. 

Philip was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Loyalty & Travel Solutions (MAG) in January 2023, and double hatting as  Group Chief Sustainability Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group. Prior to this, Philip was the CEO of Firefly, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MAG, since January 2019.

Philip joined Malaysia Airlines as Head of Strategy and Network. He is no stranger to the Group, having served in the Turnaround Management Office (TMO) in 2004. Under TMO, he was responsible for implementing the Business Turnaround Plan and, consequently, the Business Transformation Plan. Philip left the airline in 2010 and rejoined Malaysia Airlines in 2015.

Before joining Malaysia Airlines in 2004, Philip was with Deutsche Bank as a Financial Analyst in the London office, looking at equity and mergers and acquisition (M&A) markets in the Asia Pacific region. He was also a consultant with Arthur D. Little, before joining the airline. Philip holds a 1st Class Honours degree in Chemical Engineering (MEng) from Imperial College London, UK.

Clarence was appointed Group Chief Digital and IT Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group in January 2023. Prior to this, he was the Head of Digital. With over 21 years of professional experience spanning aviation, telecoms, media, and other industries, Clarence continues to champion the MAG Core Belief of ‘Digital is Our Universe’ and spearhead the Group’s digital and IT initiatives toward the success of LTBP 2.0.

Ahmad Luqman was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Airlines (MAG) in January 2023. Prior to his appointment as CEO of Airlines, he was the Group Chief Operations Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad since February 2018. He is an internally grown talent who started his career with Malaysia Airlines as a management trainee over 20 years ago.

In 2015, Luqman held responsibility as CEO of MAB Kargo, the cargo subsidiary of MAG, a role he has held since Sept 2015. Under his tenure, MAB Kargo saw an 18% growth in business volume through freighter network realignment and strategic partnerships. Luqman led a transformation programme for MAB Kargo that further strengthened the financial performance and air cargo service delivery and retained its position as the leading air cargo carrier in Malaysia. MAB Kargo also embarked on a digital transformation journey under Luqman’s leadership to capitalize on the growth of e-Commerce business in the region.

Luqman holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University. He also completed the Business Leader Development Programme from the University of Oxford in 2016. He excels in data analytical skills, strategy formation and implementation and is a team leader with a strong sense of ownership.

Mohd Nadziruddin was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Aviation Services (MAG) in January 2023. Prior to this, he was the Chief Executive Officer of AeroDarat Services Sdn Bhd, the ground handling arm of Malaysia Aviation Group, since September 2015.

Nadzir brings over 20 years of experience in airline operations, investment and finance. Nadzir has been with the airline since late 2013, where he held the position of Chief Financial Officer until being appointed to lead the Restructuring Management Office as Chief Restructuring Officer in late 2014. Before this, Nadzir had also served the airline for six years as General Manager, Project Management and Assurance (2001-2004) and Senior General Manager, Airport Operations (2005-2007).

Nadzir holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics, and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He started his career with Arthur Andersen, later known as Ernst & Young.
