Malaysia Airlines highlights local flavours for special festive meal
KLIA, 23 December 2018: Malaysia Airlines is introducing a special festive meal onboard in conjunction yuletide festivities throughout the month of December. For the first time the festive meal will incorporate local flavour by featuring the Malaysian dish Chicken Curry Debal, or better known as Devils’ Curry, traditionally served at Christmas by the Portugese community of Malacca.
Inspired by a member of Malaysia Airlines’ own cabin crew, the recipe, passed down through generations, will be made available on both Business and Economy Class for guests travelling between Kuala Lumpur to London, as well as on selected flights between Kuala Lumpur and Australia/New Zealand.
The Chicken Curry Debal is characterised by the combination of spices from the Goan coast with aromatic herbs like lemongrass and galangal that are native to Malaysia. The festive curry, served with hot steamed rice and mixed vegetables, perfectly imbues the unique tastes of the Portugese community in Malaysia.
A special 2 minute 4 second video highlighting the rich and colourful heritage of our cabin crew who inspired the dish, based on her grandmother’s treasured recipe, can also be viewed on Malaysia Airlines’ Youtube platform, https://youtu.be/yp5k2PoE-fw.
Also, in keeping up with the holiday season, all guests will be served a traditional yule log which gives extra warmth to our Malaysian Hospitality on board Malaysia Airlines.
