More Choices now Available on Malaysia Airlines Economy Flights

KLIA, 22 November 2019: As the year begins to wind down, and most start looking at the year to come, Malaysia Airlines bucks that trend and is putting its foot to the pedal by introducing three new initiatives that will provide superior flexibility, wider choices and increase comfort to its passengers. The airline will be piloting the Economy Class Meal Add-on and Buy Onboard services that will be available on a three-month trial phase and offered on selected routes. It is also expanding its ‘Best of Malaysia’ series to a library of proudly Malaysian-produced entertainment, showcasing the best Malaysian cinema has to offer via the in-flight entertainment (IFE).

According to Malaysia Airlines Group Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer Lau Yin May, “Staying true to our promise of Malaysian Hospitality, we take customers’ feedback seriously and strive to meet their expectations. With our Fly Malaysia Campaign in full swing, we continue to look for ways to innovate and enhance customer experience with the national carrier. We wish to create an atmosphere of homeliness and provide a customizable experience with our proudly Malaysian delights such as our truly unique signature Satay and award-winning local cinema entertainment catalogue.”

Following overwhelming requests, the Economy Class Meal Add-on will give passengers a chance to savour the luxury and enjoyment that was previously reserved for premium Business Class passengers. From now until 31 January 2020, Malaysia Airlines’ award-winning signature entrée dish, the internationally lauded and locally adored Chicken Satay served with the authentic spicy peanut sauce will be introduced in Economy Class on selected routes to complement the existing complimentary meals. This dish is available for pre-purchase during the online booking process or Manage My Booking at least 72 hours prior to departure. This service will be available for customers traveling on the Kuala Lumpur-Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur-Sydney, and Kuala Lumpur-London routes during the three-month trial period.

Furthermore, appreciating Malaysians’ love for food, Malaysia Airlines will have light snacking options onboard. Working in tandem with the existing Temptations in-flight sales platform, the Buy-Onboard service will allow passengers to indulge into some of their pleasures in addition to their complimentary meal and refreshments. Malaysia Airlines will be offering snacks such as assorted flavors of Mini Pringles, Maggi Hot Cups and Amazing Graze granolas, with sweet snacks like KitKat, M&Ms, Chipsmore, Oreo and Eureka, in addition to drinks like Nescafe and refreshing coconut water. This spread of sugary and savoury delights will definitely satisfy cravings at 30,000 feet in the skies! This service is available for passengers traveling on the Kuala Lumpur-Incheon, Kuala Lumpur Sydney, Kuala Lumpur-Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur-Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur-Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur-Beijing routes during the same trial period.

Malaysia Airlines will be injecting its IFE with more Malaysian flair to recognize and instill the sense of national pride of many successful local productions. Local films like action-flick ‘Paskal”, which tells the true story of Malaysian commandos who took on Somalian pirates during a daring rescue mission, as well as timeless classics from national icon P. Ramlee will be featured as part of the ‘P. Ramlee Film Festival’. His most loved movies such as ‘Sarjan Hassan’ and ‘Pendekar Bujang Lapok’ are just some of the films that passengers can enjoy. With Christmas around the corner, seasonal classics like ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘The Polar Express’, and ‘Frozen’ are just some of the titles that will put you in the holiday mood. The latest in Hollywood cinema will also be welcomed onboard, with ‘The Lima Project’ starring Hollywood megastar Brad Pitt, ‘The Kitchen, and ‘Blinded by the Light’ keeping you up to date with latest and hottest drama flicks in Hollywood.
