AMAL by Malaysia Airlines Successfully Transported 8,500 Hajj Pilgrims for 2022 Hajj Season

 

KLIA, 6 July 2022: AMAL by Malaysia Airlines, the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage arm of Malaysia Airlines, has successfully transported about 8,500 pilgrims for this year’s Hajj season with the first phase starting on 6 June to 5 July 2022.

 

On Tuesday, 5 July 2022, the airline successfully flew one of the final batches of 283 pilgrims to Jeddah onboard MH8016, which departed for Jeddah at 3.10pm from KL International Airport (KLIA).

 

Malaysia’s Senior Minister of Defence, Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, and representatives of various stakeholders who have been working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth journey for the pilgrims were at KLIA to send-off the pilgrims.

 

Chief Operations Officer of Amal by Malaysia Airlines, Muhammad Najmi Mansor said, It's an honour to be able to serve Hajj pilgrims this year after two years of a halt due to the pandemic and border closure. To ensure a seamless operation for the pilgrims, we have worked with various stakeholders including government agencies and key industry partners in numerous roundtable discussions and conferences prior to this day. We are grateful for the unwavering support of key players since day one, as well as the implementation of the Makkah Route programme, which aims to speed up pilgrim travel from Malaysia by performing Saudi immigration procedures at KLIA.

 

We hope to continue the tradition for the benefit of pilgrims and be consistent with our goal of providing the best of Malaysian Hospitality to the pilgrims through unique pilgrim centric services including miqat announcements, talbiah, doa musafir, azan, and tazkirah as well our well-trained crew and ground workers to ensure a complete pilgrimage experience from the moment passengers board the flight.

 

For this hajj season, Amal has mounted 30 flights between Kuala Lumpur and Jeddah, as well as Madinah utilising its A330-300 aircraft, to ensure that pilgrims have a seamless and comfortable journey. The airline also deployed 24 feeders and returning flights utilising its B737-800 aircraft, to transport pilgrims from Alor Setar, Pulau Pinang, Johor Bahru, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Kuala Terengganu to KLIA.

 

The airline is committed to providing pilgrims with a safe and comfortable trip by adhering to the highest standards of health and safety, in keeping with its Fly Confidently programme. This includes the use of air disinfectants and High Effectiveness Air Filters (HEPA) to ensure the efficiency of air circulation to filter up to 99.97 percent of viruses in aircraft.

 

The second phase of the operations will commence on 19 July 2022 and be completed on 14 August 2022.
