Malaysian e-Invoice Implementation 2024 The Government of Malaysia has announced the phased implementation of e-Invoice starting 1 August 2024. The e-Invoice is an initiative by Inland Revenue Board Malaysia (“IRBM”) to digitalize the business invoicing process in Malaysia. The format and data captured are in a standardized electronic format following predefined frameworks and are required to be validated by IRBM. For more information on e-Invoice, please refer to IRBM’s website at https://www.hasil.gov.my/e-invois/
Issuance of e-Invoice for tickets purchased directly from Airline Passengers who purchase air tickets directly via Malaysia Airlines (“MH”) website will be issued with an e-Invoice. Please provide your email address for us to send the e-Invoice. The e-Invoice will be sent in a separate email from the electronic ticket (e-ticket). During the implementation phase, there may be delays or issues with the generation of validated e-Invoices. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Once an e-Invoice is submitted for validation with IRBM, it cannot be reissued or modified. E-Invoice is currently not required for tax claim as referenced in IRBM’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) (Updated on 19 July 2024), Part 1: General, (i) Introduction to e-Invoice, Question No. 4 “ taxpayers can continue to claim tax deductions or personal tax relief using existing documentation until such time the legislation has been amended ”. For passengers who purchase their air tickets via travel agents , please refer to your travel agents for the e-Invoice.
Travel Documentations Please be reminded that the e-Invoice is solely for compliance purposes with the tax authority. We advise customers to refer to the e-ticket for travel itinerary details. For flight check-in, passengers must present their e-ticket, not the e-Invoice. Please note that the Malaysian e-Invoice is subject to validation by IRBM. Malaysia Airlines has no control over the tax authorities’ validation process, or the accuracy of information provided to us.
