Extra baggage If you need to bring more than the regular baggage allotment, it’s best to buy extra baggage in advance. You can enjoy 20% off your extra baggage fee when you buy it online through Manage My Booking or via our call centre 1 300 88 3000 . You can pre-purchase extra baggage up to 24 hours before take-off.

Charges will be calculated based on distance flown from point of departure to the final destination in a single itinerary. Rates will be charged on per kg basis (over and above the permitted free baggage allowance of the cabin class). List of countries in each zone and applicable rates

*For passengers travelling on MH domestic services with a Government (GOM) warrant, excess baggage rates on all domestic services will be USD5 per kg.

The product, Extra Baggage, is only available for flights operated by Malaysia Airlines. It is not applicable for MASwings flights. Extra baggage is not valid for interline and codeshare flights. Extra baggage purchased is non-refundable. For voluntary changes, extra baggage will be carried over subject to several criteria being met: a. Changes are made on the same booking reference (Passenger Name Reference). b. Same origin and destination. c. Flights operated by Malaysia Airlines. d. No changes in passenger details. e. Aircraft space availability. (E.g., Extra baggage purchased for Mr. ABC for MH4 on 15th December 2018, 0900 is valid for Mr. ABC for MH2 on 20th December 2018, 2330. The two flights have the same origin and destination but with different dates and times). f. No mixing of Domestic and International flights. (E.g., For PEN to SIN with transit via KUL, the MHupgrade will be available for PEN to KUL only). g. Voluntary changes for extra baggage can only be made through MH ticket offices and call centre. Extra baggage is not exchangeable and transferable between passengers (E.g., Extra baggage purchased for Mr. ABC for MH4 on 14th September 2017, 0950 is not valid for MR. XYZ for the same flight date and time or a different flight date and time). If the passenger’s baggage weight exceeds the total free baggage allowance and the extra baggage purchased, the additional excess baggage weight will be charged the normal excess baggage rate at the check-in counter. Additional weight unused from any purchased extra baggage is not refundable, transferable, or exchangeable in any form. (E.g., Extra baggage purchased = 5kg, Free baggage allowance = 20kg - If the passenger’s total baggage comes up to 23kg, the remaining 2kg will be forfeited). Malaysia Airlines reserves the right to change the rates, terms and conditions of the extra baggage product at any time with or without notice. Baggage items that are part of the extra baggage purchased may be offloaded due to safety or security reasons. If this were to happen, we will fully refund the extra baggage fee for the affected items.
