Malaysia Airlines Advises Passengers to Arrive Early at KLIA During Peak Festive Period from 22 May to 7 June 2026
Passengers flying Malaysia Airlines during festive peak must arrive 4 hours early at KLIA Terminal 1.
Malaysia Airlines passengers travelling during the upcoming peak festive season, especially between 22 May to 7 June 2026, are advised to arrive at KL International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 four (4) hours ahead of their scheduled departure time for international flights and three (3) hours prior for domestic flights . This allows sufficient time for check-in and document verification at various airport touchpoints. To ensure a seamless travel experience, passengers are reminded to take note of the following: Travel Documents Passengers must carry all required travel documents (e.g. original passport, identification card, and MyKID for children) and verify entry/exit requirements through official websites, immigration authorities, or embassies before their journey, given the travel restrictions in some countries. Travellers using the self-service check-in, especially for international flights, are advised to verify their travel documents at the check-in counter. Passport validity shall not be less than six (6) months from the departure date. Check-in Perform web or mobile check-in from 48 hours and to 90 minutes before departure. Self-service kiosks are also available for passengers to print luggage tags and boarding passes. Passengers can then proceed to the baggage drop counter or, if travelling without luggage, head directly to the boarding gate. The Self-Service Bag Drop (SSBD) counter is located at Row G for international flights and Row B for domestic flights. Business Suite and Business Class passengers, as well as Enrich Platinum, Gold and Silver members, may check-in at Row D for both domestic and international flights. Economy Class passengers travelling on domestic flights are required to proceed to Row B; and international flights at Row H. Please note that check-in counters will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time for domestic and international flights. Security and Boarding After completing check-in, passengers are encouraged to proceed directly to the security screening area. The cut-off time for scanning the boarding pass is 40 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 50 minutes for international flights. Please be prepared for extended waiting times, which may exceed 45 minutes, at key touchpoints such as check-in counters, immigration, and security clearance, due to the anticipated high volume of travellers. The boarding gate will close 30 minutes before departure. For passenger transfers between the Main Terminal Building and Satellite Building: Business Suite, Business Class and Enrich Platinum passengers travelling with Malaysia Airlines may still use the airline’s Private Terminal Transfer Service . Pick up location is at G1 at the Contact Pier. Aerotrain services may be temporarily replaced with shuttle buses during nightly maintenance (between 11:00pm to 5:00am). Please follow airport signage to the designated bus lounges for terminal transfers. Cabin Baggage Policy Economy Class passengers are allowed to bring onboard one (1) cabin-size luggage that weighs no more than 7kg in total. Business Class passengers are allowed to bring onboard two (2) cabin-size luggage and one (1) personal item that weighs no more than 14kg in total. Important: Please note that lithium batteries, including power banks, are prohibited in checked luggage and must be carried in your carry-on baggage in accordance with regulations. Onboard, they should not be placed in the overhead compartments and must be stored under the seat in front of you or in the seat pocket. Passengers are strongly encouraged to carry their medications in their carry-on baggage to ensure easy access. Additional Information Malaysian passport holders are encouraged to use the MyBorderPass app to obtain a QR code and expedite departure immigration clearance through eight (8) E-Gates. Download the MyBorderPass app via Google Play Store (Android 8.0 and above) or Apple App Store (iOS 12 and above). Nine (9) autogate facilities with facial recognition are available for eligible foreign passport holders to ensure a seamless departure process.
