Australia and New Zealand further extend travel restrictions on international passengers

Australia

Due to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Australia, the Australian government today imposed a temporary entry ban to all non-citizens and non-residents from 20 March 2020 (from 2100hours  Australia Eastern Standard Time/AEDST of 20 March 2020), until further notice.

As a result, Malaysia Airlines will be adjusting its flight schedule to transport passengers who are allowed to travel.

Malaysia Airlines flies to five (5) destinations in Australia name Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

*This restriction does not apply to Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family, including spouses, legal guardians and dependents as well as to New Zealand citizens transiting to New Zealand and Pacific Islanders transiting to their home countries.

Note: These travel restrictions do not apply to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, residents with valid travel conditions and their immediate family, who will still be able to come to New Zealand. Australian citizens and permanent residents are also not subject to the travel restrictions if New Zealand is their primary place of established residence.

New Zealand

Effective 19 March 2020, the New Zealand Government announced closure of its borders for all foreign travelers excluding New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, residents with valid travel conditions and their immediate family. All returning passengers are required to undertake the 14-days self-isolation upon entry.

*This restriction is not applicable to the New Zealand citizens, permanent residents and residents with valid travel conditions, and their immediate family, Australian citizens and permanent residents whose their primary place of established residence in New Zealand as well as Diplomats accredited to New Zealand and currently resident of New Zealand.
