1. What is Advance Seat Selection?
Advance Seat Selection applies to any seat that you prefer in our comfortable Economy Class cabin. Our well designed Economy Class cabin seats ranges from the comfortable Standard Seats, relaxed Emergency Exit Seats (which are subjected to additional safety criteria), superior Upper Deck Seats (routes operated by an Airbus A380 Aircraft only) and premium Extra Legroom Seats (routes operated by an Airbus A330 Aircraft only)

2. What is the difference between Standard Seats, Emergency Exit Seats, Upper Deck Seats, and Extra Legroom Seats?
Emergency Exit Seats are row of seats located on the emergency exit door pathway. Upper Deck Seats are economy class cabin seats located on the upper deck of an Airbus A380 aircraft. Extra Legroom Seats are row of seats that have a seat pitch of 36” which means extra space for you on the economy class cabin of an Airbus A330 aircraft. Standard Seats are any other seat in the economy class cabin except the first row seats or emergency exit seats.

3. How to book the Advance Seat Selection?  
It can be made anytime during the booking process (a nominal fee applies depending on route and seat type selected)

4.The availability of Advance Seat Selection.
It is available for all Economy Class flights operated by Malaysia Airlines, both domestic and international.

It is not available for flights operated by MASwings, and flights with segments involving MASwings flights or code share (e.g. Dublin-London-Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur-Miri-Mukah)

5. Advance Seat Selection charges.
Prices vary depending on flight zone and type of seat. You can view the prices of each seats on the seat map at the seat selection option when you book your flight or when you manage your booking at the “Manage My Booking’ option.

6. Purchase of Advance Seat Selection during check in.
During the check-in period (48 hours prior to departure), selection of seat will be free of charge but the choices of seats will be limited to available seats only.

There is no guarantee that you and your travel partner(s) will be seated together, so, it is best to purchase your seats in advance to avoid disappointment. For groups or family travelling together, seats may be split across different rows or the aisle. We will make sure each child under 12 years sits next to an adult from your booking but children over 12 years are booked as an adult in our system and may sit separately.

7. Change of flight or cancellation of flight.
Advance Seat Selection are non-refundable, as well as non-transferable between flights or persons if flights booked are cancelled or changed voluntarily. Changes made to Advance Seat Selection is chargeable, and previous fees paid are not refundable.

8. Am I guaranteed the seat/s I have purchased in advance through the Advance Seat Selection option?
Malaysia Airlines reserves the right to change your seat assignment for operational, safety or security reasons, even after boarding the aircraft. Advance Seat Selection are non-refundable and non-transferable but we will give our best to accommodate you to one which is comparable in value.

9. Usage of Enrich miles to redeem Advance Seat Selection.
Unfortunately, redemption of Enrich miles for Advance Seat Selection is not available at the moment.

10. Are Advance Seat Selection fees available to Enrich members for free or at a discount?
Advance Seat Selection fees are applicable to all Economy Class passengers.

For members of Enrich Platinum and One World Emerald, fees will be waived for Standard Seats Only.

11. Advance Seat Selection eligibility:

It is not available for:

  • All unticketed passengers (e.g. those travelling on a cruise or packaged holiday who have not yet received confirmation of their ticket numbers from their agent)
  • Children travelling alone (unaccompanied minor)
  • Passengers travelling in a group of more than nine persons
  • Passengers travelling on flights not operated by Malaysia Airlines or flights operated by a codeshare partner

For emergency row seats, passenger must be an able-bodied adult. Children either accompanied or unaccompanied by adults are strictly not allowed to be allocated at this row.

  1. Available for window, aisle, standard and premium seats.
  2. Available for Malaysian domestic and international markets.
  3. Children either accompanied or unaccompanied by adults are strictly not permitted to select and to be allocated at this row
  4. Seat selection is not available for MASwings connecting flights and code share flights.
  5. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  6. Price quoted will be equivalent to local currency for all foreign currencies.
  7. Not available for passengers with disabilities/special needs, children travelling alone, group bookings (more than 9 persons), and facility seats such as infant or bassinet seats.
  8. Seat selection fee is vary depending on flight route. Malaysia Airlines reserves the right to vary, delete or add to any of these Terms and Conditions without any prior notice.
  9. Passengers travelling on Emergency Exit Seats are subject to flight safety guidelines with the following criteria:
  • At least 18 years of age at the commencement of the journey.
  • Children either accompanied or unaccompanied by adults are strictly not permitted to select and to be allocated at this row
  • Fully able-bodied and capable of operating or assisting with the operation of the exit doors. Persons with reduced mobility or any disability, whether profound or partial, and persons using portable oxygen or any other medical equipment are ineligible because they may endanger themselves or others.
  • Able to follow the safety instructions. 
  • In good health at the time of check-in, boarding, and during the flight.
  • Not carrying infants or using an infant seat belt. Not in any stage of pregnancy.
  • Not under the influence of any intoxicating substance at check-in, boarding, and during the flight.
  • Does not require an extension seat belt because of large body size.

 

Malaysia Airlines reserves the right to reassign seat of passenger who does not meet the above safety criteria. Fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
