A new experience is here.
Meet the reimagined and refreshed B737-800 NG.

The new Malaysia Airlines interior design is a progressive step towards the future. In a commitment to sustainability, the aircraft is lighter and consumes less fuel, with leaner, lighter seats and wireless in-flight entertainment that contribute towards more eco-friendly flying.

The fresh and premium cabin ambience features a single colour: the trademark Malaysia Airlines Blue. In an ode to its roots, passengers will notice a subtle infusion of Malaysian elements throughout the cabin. The symbiotic, synergistic design introduces a seamless flow between cabin classes and all their elements.

Featuring the iconic batik motif throughout the cabin, from the upholstery to the curtains, the Malaysia Airlines identity shines through. All-new seats have been installed, manufactured by award-winning French manufacturer Safran which won two awards in the 2021 Crystal Cabin Awards for innovations in aircraft interiors.

What can you expect in the B737-800 NG cabin?

From entertainment on your terms to brand-new seats and a new journey into sustainability, there's much to be discovered as we begin rolling out our reimagined and refreshed aircraft.

Let's get into it.

What makes the refreshed B737-800 NG aircraft a huge part of our ongoing sustainability commitment is largely its weight; more importantly, its reduction. In-flight entertainment has now transitioned, from seatback to your hand. That's right, the all-new seats are lighter and leaner because the seatback IFE has moved to become a part of what you're already bringing into the cabin: Your personal devices.

For the ultimate entertainment on your terms, in-flight entertainment is now accessible on your own device through Wi-Fi that is available on board every reimagined and refreshed B737-800 NG aircraft. Experience a wealth of entertainment at your fingertips: Movies, podcasts, music, books, games, shopping, in-flight snacks and more. Shop 30,000 feet in the air and have your brand-new purchases delivered to your seat! Got a craving? Scroll through our in-flight menu and sit back as your snacks are brought to your tray table.

Feel at ease when using MHstudio, as the use of our wireless in-flight entertainment contributes to a more eco-friendly journey!

Marking the first time our aircraft seats have been changed in a decade, the new seats in both Business and Economy Class showcase the Malaysia Airlines identity while also being comfortable and functional. They are all-around more sustainable, made from lightweight leather and much leaner than they were previously, thanks to lighter seatbacks and reduced thickness of the entire seat. Our new seats are now equipped with personal device holders – all the better to enjoy MHstudio with – and power outlets to charge your go-to personal device.

Keep an eye out for the trademark batik motif on the seats, brought forth in two subtle yet eye-catching designs for both classes.

As we venture into the future of Malaysia Airlines, it is becoming increasingly crucial that we do everything with sustainability in mind. That's where the reimagined and refreshed B737-800 NG cabin comes in.

The introduction of wireless in-flight entertainment and leaner seats are the greatest contributors to more eco-friendly flying. How? The new seats are made from lightweight material and are leaner than before with the transition of seatback in-flight entertainment to entertainment on your terms, in your hand. Lighter materials are also used throughout the cabin, including changing our cabin dividers from hard partitions to soft dividers.

Overall, the aircraft weight has now been reduced by approximately 679 kilograms, effectively reducing fuel consumption by about 91,029 litres per aircraft per annum. Basically, the lighter the plane, the less fuel is used for each flight, and ultimately, the smaller our carbon footprint on the planet. Each flight taken on the reimagined and refreshed B737-800 NG will be more sustainable!
