New Distribution Capability (NDC) is a travel industry-supported programme launched by IATA. NDC is for the development and market adoption of a new, XML-based data transmission standard. The NDC Standard enhances communication capabilities between airlines and travel agents. It is open to any third party, intermediary, IT provider or non-IATA member, to implement and use.
- Essentially, NDC is a new distribution channel. It allows airlines to connect directly to Travel Agents/OTAs/Aggregators through an API.
- When an airline connects directly to sellers, they can provide more types of content, greater personalisation of products & higher chances of upselling.
Benefits of NDC?
NDC is an enabler to drive revenue, reduce costs and increase customer engagement. NDC allows airlines to modernise the way products are retailed to travel agents, corporates and travellers.
