Entry requirements

Entry requirements may change at short notice. Passengers are advised to check the latest travel information below or through the relevant local authorities before your trip.

 

Travellers arriving in or leaving Malaysia must declare all dutiable and prohibited goods as well as currencies or other monetary instruments of a total amount exceeding USD 10,000 in their possession.

Travellers must fill up customs declaration forms (Customs Form No 7) available at the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) counter at the departure and arrival level and submit the completed form to the duty officer of customs.

This requirement follows the latest directive from the Civil Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD). The declaration of Customs Form No. 7 (K7) is a requirement under Section 103 of the Customs Act 1967 under the following legal provisions:

  • Section 103, Custom Act 1967
    “103. (1) Notwithstanding anything in this Act contained, every passenger or other person arriving in or leaving Malaysia shall declare all dutiable or prohibited goods in his possession, either on his person or in any baggage or in any vehicle, to the proper officer of customs”; and
  • Regulation no. 55, Customs Regulation 2019
    “55. (1) every traveller or other person arriving in or leaving Malaysia shall declare in Form Customs No.7 in the Third Schedule”.

Entry requirements to Australia

Effective 5 January 2023, the following entry requirements apply for passengers travelling to Australia from China, including Hong Kong and Macau:

  • Travellers (including Australian citizens) must undergo a COVID-19 test within 48 hours prior to their departure to Australia. The types of COVID-19 tests accepted are:
    •  Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) or
    •  Nucleic Acid Amplification Technology (NAAT)
  • Passengers should be prepared to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test before boarding their flight and upon arrival in Australia
    • For the RAT test: A certificate from the medical practitioner administering or supervising the test will be required. This certificate should include:
      • The date and time of the test.
      • The name of the individual tested.
      • The type of test conducted.
      • The brand and make of the test
      • That the specimen for the test was collected, and the test was carried out, by or under the supervision of a medical practitioner.
      • The result of the test.
      • The signature of the medical practitioner providing the certificate.
    • For the NAAT test: A result from your testing provider can be used as evidence of a negative test.
  • The above pre-departure testing requirements does not apply to the following travellers:
    • Children under 12 years old on the day they are scheduled to depart
    • People with evidence from a medical practitioner of a COVID-19 infection in the last 30 days, including confirmation that they are no longer infectious or symptomatic, and the day of the first positive test result (which must be at least seven days before the date of the medical certificate)
    • People with evidence from a medical practitioner in the last 30 days that they have a medical condition that prevents them from undertaking a COVID-19 test
    • Emergency medical evacuation flights and those accompanying people on these flights
    • Travellers from China transiting through Australia

All non-Australian travellers are advised to apply for their visa at least four weeks before their intended travel date to avoid disruptions.

Travellers must apply for their Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), an electronically stored authority equivalent to a visa via the AustralianETA mobile app.

Entry requirements to India

Effective 1 January 2023, the following entry requirements applies:

All travellers should preferably be fully vaccinated as per the approved primary schedule of vaccination against COVID-19 in their country.

For travellers departing from high-risk countries including China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Thailand and Japan, the following entry requirements apply:

  • Submit a complete self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal (www.newdelhiairport.in) before the scheduled departure date, including travel details from the last 14 days
  • All travellers (including children and infants) must upload a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report* on the Air Suvidha portal. The test should be taken within 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure
  • Travellers must submit a declaration regarding the authenticity of the COVID-19 test report, failing which the traveller may be liable for criminal prosecution

Malaysia Airlines wishes to remind travellers to Singapore to complete and submit the Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC) prior to their arrival to ensure a smooth arrival process. Passengers may submit the SGAC up to three (3) days prior to their arrival in Singapore.

Online Filling Of Arrival And Departure Cards For Travellers To Sri Lanka.

Effective 1 January 2023, the Department of Immigration and Emigration Sri Lanka has implemented online filling of Arrival Cards for foreigners and Departure Cards for Sri Lankan nationals.

Travellers are encouraged to submit the required details online three (3) days prior to their arrival or departure, at https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk/emb/eEmbarkation/'#/home-page
