Updated Travel Advisory on Typhoon Mangkhut

 

Super Typhoon Mangkhut is reported to have already impacted Hong Kong and will soon impact Guangzhou and Haikou starting today,16 September. In view of this, we have received confirmation of the following airport closure/suspension of flights on 16 and 17 September 2018 respectively;

We are also expecting severe disruptions to our scheduled flight operations, including major delays and cancellations, between 16 and 17 September 2018 into and out of Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Haikou. * Rescheduled flights are subject to the affected airport resuming operations and lifting flight suspension into and out of HAK. This information will be provided at a later time once confirmation from the airport authorities is received

All rebooking and rerouting charges will be waived for all Malaysia Airlines tickets (irrespective of fare type)  booked on or before 14 September 2018, for travel to and from Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Haikou  between 16 and 17 September 2018. All rebooked and rerouted journeys must be completed on or before 14 October 2018. Passengers wanting to reroute or rebook their travel into and out of Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Haikou during this period of disruption are advised to  connect with our Call Centre  at 1 300 88 3000 (in Malaysia) and +603 7843 3000 (for outside Malaysia), with immediate effect to ensure their bookings are changed accordingly.

Passengers are also strongly advised to ensure their contact details are correct by visiting the Manage Your Booking page on our website and filling in their 6 digit alpha-numeric booking reference numbers to receive the latest updates.

For more information, passengers are encouraged to check Flight Status before proceeding to the airport or call  our Call Centre.
