Malaysia Airlines granted EASA approval to assist MRO Business

KLIA, 9 October 2017:  Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) announced that it has been granted the EASA Design Organization Approval (DOA) Part 21 certificate in September 2017. The approval allows the airline to perform major modifications and repairs in Avionics, Structures and Cabin Interiors. The EASA DOA, marks another important milestone for MAB in its journey towards operational and engineering excellence.

Malaysia Airlines is proud to be the first airline and locally owned company in Malaysia that has received the EASA DOA.

“Efforts to obtain the EASA DOA began back in February 2014. The approval will assist us in rebuilding our maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) business and take on third party contracts over the next 18 months.  The approval will also lead to immediate cost savings in our day to day business. Despite new requirements and additional documentation for the approval, our team managed to pull their resources together and earn the EASA DOA in record time. I am extremely happy to receive this approval and would like to thank our engineering team whose long-standing experience and competence allowed us to gain this approval,” shared Peter Bellew, Group CEO of Malaysia Airlines.

Currently, Malaysia Airlines holds EASA Part 145 (Maintenance Organisation Approval), EASA Part 147 (Maintenance Training and Examination Organisation Approval) and the newly extended EASA Design Organization Approval (DOA) certificates.
