Kraftangan Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines Berhad Collaborate to Promote the Country's Craft Industry

Kuala Lumpur, 4 April 2022: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture through Kraftangan Malaysia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Airlines Berhad to collaborate in promoting and marketing local craft products through several initiatives that benefit craft entrepreneurs as well as national airline customers. The Memorandum of Understanding ceremony was signed by Yang Berusaha Puan Aididah Ibrahim, Director General of Kraftangan Malaysia and Captain Izham Ismail, Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG). The signing of the memorandum of understanding was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr Santhara, Deputy Minister of Tourism for Arts and Culture at the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex.

The partnership also welcomes the arrival of Syarikat Pemasaran Karyaneka Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Kraftangan Malaysia, as Journify's newest trading partner, MAG’s one-stop travel and lifestyle digital platform. By bringing the same goal of 'promoting Malaysia in the eyes of the world', Kraftangan Malaysia is in tandem with Malaysia Airlines Berhad in an effort to highlight art and culture as a symbol of Malaysian identity especially through local craft products.

Puan Aididah Ibrahim said in her speech, "I feel very fortunate that today, Kraftangan Malaysia will once again officially expand and further strengthen the cooperation relationship with Malaysia Airlines Berhad. Malaysia Airlines Berhad's willingness to collaborate is very much appreciated in our efforts to market, promote and enhance the accessibility of local craft products globally.

Kraftangan Malaysia is grateful for all the opportunities and support provided by Malaysia Airlines Berhad in helping to promote local craft products to domestic and foreign tourists."

Captain Izham Ismail also said, "As a national airline, Malaysia Airlines is also proud to be able to bring the country's name, traditions, culture, and friendly service of Malaysian Hospitality to all our network destinations. We are very pleased that Kraftangan Malaysia, through Karyaneka, is willing to join forces to open up greater opportunities for customers and tourists purchase unique goods from Malaysia easily, thus revitalizing the country's economy, following the opening of the country's borders, which will surely benefit various business sectors including tourism and national aviation.

This collaboration with Kraftangan Malaysia is timely and is well suited to Journify's initiative to promote local products and in line with the mission of Kraftangan Malaysia to drive the development of the craft industry as a sustainable socio-economic catalyst and the protection of heritage craft arts. We believe that this will indirectly re-establish the spirit of local craft entrepreneurs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

It is hoped that the memorandum of understanding between Kraftangan Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines Berhad will certainly have a significant impact on the country's craft industry. It will also inspire craft entrepreneurs to continue to actively produce unique, high-quality and homegrown craft products as souvenirs, especially to foreign tourists visiting Malaysia.
