KLIA, 10 August 2020: As Malaysia’s tourism authorities and industry players welcome the reopening of domestic sectors for travel, Malaysia Airlines’ tour operating arm, MHholidays has kicked off its ‘Kids Fly + Stay Free’ campaign, which is the first promotional campaign of its kind for the year where customers can now enjoy up to 60% off holiday packages which are all-inclusive of return flights, baggage, in-flight meals, and hotel stay.

From now until 2 September 2020, every booking under MHholidays will be entitled to a complimentary package of flight and accommodation for a maximum of one child aged between 3 to 11 years old or an infant aged 2 years and below – thus offering customers extra savings and benefits for the entire family.

The package price for flight plus a 3-day 2-night hotel stay ranges from RM389 to Kota Kinabalu, RM189 to Johor Bahru, RM239 to Kuantan, RM249 to Langkawi, RM239 to Penang and RM189 to Kuala Lumpur from other destinations within Malaysia. These packages are valid for immediate travel until 31 January 2021.

Those planning for a short or extended weekend trip to explore the hidden gems and natural wonders of Malaysia may take advantage of this one-month long campaign and enjoy a well-deserved break with their loved ones.

Malaysia Airlines’ Group Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, Lau Yin May said, “Since the lifting of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the domestic travel constraints, we know our customers are keen to take a break with their loved ones and therefore, MHholidays is here for them – offering great value-for-money deals that cater not only for solo travellers indulging their wanderlust, but for families who want to enjoy a hassle-free holiday!”

“We are also delighted to have a myriad of 4 to 5-star hotel partners across Malaysia who are willing to collaborate with MHholidays to offer great deals for this campaign, making this the ideal time for customers to plan their travels right up until next year. With Malaysia Airlines’ enhanced health and safety measures implemented across all customer touchpoints, our passengers can Fly Confidently to their dream destinations,” added Yin May.

As part of this campaign, customers who book their trip with MHholidays will also be entitled to the ‘MHholidays & Suria Sabah Shopping Mall Privilege Booklet’ which offers additional perks such as 20% discount at Big Apple Donuts & Coffee, as well as lifestyle brands such as Birkenstock, Purest Borneo and Under Armour on top of what Sabah already has to offer. This promotion is limited to a first-come, first-serve basis and is redeemable within 10 days upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu.

Malaysia Airlines is also collaborating with Sabah Tourism to offer a special promotion in support of the #BahMarilah campaign to promote tourism into Sabah. Focused on attracting passengers to explore the sights and sounds of Sabah’s popular attractions, the promotion offers up to 50% off on holiday packages and is available from today until 24 August 2020. Selected participating hotels in Sabah are also offering Ultimate Flexibility that enables passengers to make unlimited room booking changes without any additional charges imposed, complimentary room upgrade, late check-out and one-way hotel-to-airport transfer, all subject to availability. Packages are valid for immediate travel until 31 December 2020.

According to General Manager of Sabah Tourism Board (STB), Puan Noredah Othman, “After the announcement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), several hotels and attractions began to roll out promotions for the local market. The local tourism industry is all geared up by ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) abiding by the new norm were in place.”

“These days you can see a good number of people checking-in to hotels for their staycations and many venturing out of their hometowns to explore tourist attractions around Sabah. Over the past few weekends, Community Based Tourism areas such as Kundasang, Ranau, and Kiulu have seen a steady increase in the number of travellers.”

“STB developed a landing page on its website featuring the latest deals and attractions, which then evolved into ‘Staycations in Sabah’ and currently has more than 60 packages on the site. In addition to this, STB is providing a subsidy for industry players to run ad promotions via digital and social media channels. Coupled with flight accessibility and affordable fares, we believe this will further bolster efforts to promote domestic tourism in Sabah,” added Noredah.
