All Malaysia Airlines’ Operating Pilots and Cabin Crew Are Vaccinated

Passengers Can Now Fly Confidently!

KLIA, 17 August 2021: Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) today achieved a significant milestone in its Company-wide COVID-19 vaccination campaign when its main carrier, Malaysia Airlines, recorded a 100 per cent vaccinated status for all its pilots and cabin crew on active roster.

MAG through its COVID-19 Immunization Policy in July 2021 had made it compulsory for all employees to be vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine except for those with health and medical reasons. Through its participation in the aviation industry vaccination programme at PPVIN-KLIA, the Group managed to accelerate the rate of its Malaysia-based employee vaccination which currently stands at 95%. The State governments of Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan have also expedited the provision of vaccines for its East Malaysia-based employees, through the District PPV Programme.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group, Captain Izham Ismail, said, "As a responsible employer, it is our duty to ensure a safe and healthy working environment to our employees. This latest milestone signifies our commitment to the safety of our people and customers as travel restart and recovery are dependent on achieving a herd immunity community.

This latest progress aims to provide passengers with the assurance and peace of mind that they can choose to travel with any airline under the MAG, confidently. We will continue to boost public confidence in air travel, stimulate the recovery in domestic and international travel demands, and ultimately position Malaysia as a safe destination once the situation recedes.”

The vaccination programme for the employees is in addition to the enhanced safety and health protocols across multiple touchpoints at airports and onboard, as recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization Council of Aviation Recovery Task Force (ICAO CART), to ensure customers and employees' safety are protected at every step of the way. Among the measures in place include mandatory usage of face masks, frequent aircraft disinfection, and early replacement of aircraft HEPA filters to ensure effective air circulation system with the capability to filter out 99.97 per cent of microorganisms on board. Passengers will also receive complimentary hygiene kits which come with a non-surgical face mask, a sachet of hand sanitiser and sanitary wipes, hygienically packed in a sealed zip-lock small sized pouch
