Malaysia Aviation Group Welcomes Appointment of New Member of the Board

 

KLIA, 29 July 2021: Malaysia Aviation Group (“MAG” or the “Group”) welcomes the recent appointment of Ms. Cheryl Goh Ching Ling as Non-Executive Director of MAG and Malaysia Airlines Berhad’s (“MAB”) Board of Directors (the “Board”). Cheryl is currently the Group Vice President of Marketing and Sustainability and the Founding Chief Marketing Officer of Grab Holdings Inc, (“Grab”).

 

Commenting on the appointment, YBhg Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, Group Chairman of MAG said, “The Board looks forward to working closely with Cheryl in charting the Group’s future while tapping on her broad experience in e-commerce. Throughout her career, Cheryl has developed a profound understanding of digital audiences and how to build businesses around them. Her appointment will further boost the Group's vision to become a leading global travel group that focuses on the delivery of highly customized, end to end travel solutions.

 

With the recent launch of Journify, an integrated travel and lifestyle platform under MAG’s third profit centre – e Commerce & Travel Services (formerly known as Travel Solutions), the Group is set to transform from just an airline business to a holistic travel solutions provider. MAG’s other two profit centres focus on business from Airlines and Aviation Services portfolios."

 

In her role at Grab, Cheryl shapes the strategy behind the company’s user growth, country expansion and service diversification. She also oversees the company’s marketing efforts across the Southeast Asia region. Cheryl has spent a decade in leadership roles in the digital space, mostly in technology companies such as MOL Global (an e-payment enabler for online goods and services) and Friendster. She also headed The New Straits Times Group’s digital arm and served as Group Digital General Manager at Nissan Malaysia.

 

Cheryl graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics & Marketing and completed the Harvard Business School Executive Leadership Program in 2019.

 

Cheryl joins another new addition to the MAG and MAB Board, Shahin Farouque Jammal Ahmad from Khazanah Nasional who was appointed in August 2020. Other Board members include Group CEO Captain Izham Ismail, Tan Sri Krishnan Tan, Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan, and David Lau Nai Pek.
