Malaysia Airlines Flies the First Batch Malaysian Peacekeepers to Lebanon

 

 

KLIA, 30 September 2021: Malaysia Airlines flies the first batch of the Malaysian Battalion 850-9 (Malbatt 850-9) to Lebanon at 4.00pm today from the Subang Air Base via MH8496, utilising the A330-200 aircraft with fully vaccinated pilots and cabin crew.

 

A total of eight Malaysia Airlines charter flights will be deployed using the Airbus 330-200 aircraft with three pilots and 10 cabin crew to fly the national peacekeepers under the United Nations peacekeeping mission for 2021.

 

Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group, Captain Izham Ismail, said, "As the national airline, we share the responsibility of flying the Malaysian flag worldwide. We are honoured to be trusted for the third consecutive year to ferry the Malbatt contingent safely to Lebanon

 

The safety and well-being of passengers continue to be our priority as we ensure the highest standard of safety and flight protocols are adhered to in an orderly manner without compromising their comfort, especially as the country is transitioning through the COVID-19 pandemic to the endemic phase."

 

To date, Malaysia Airlines have successfully operated almost 450 rescue and repatriation flights utilising Malaysia Airlines’ A350, A330 and B737 aircraft and via MABkargo more than 3,500 passenger-to-cargo (P2C) flights deployed since March 2020, carrying over 100,000 tonnes of relief items on its global freighter network and will continue to ensure the global supply chain is maintained.
