Dayang Bunting Island
Dayang Bunting is the second largest island out of the 99 others in Langkawi. It gets its name from the mountain formations that resemble a pregnant woman. It’s easily accessible, and a 15-minute boat ride is all you need to witness this natural wonder for yourself.
Treat your taste buds to scrumptious food
A mix of traditional Malay, Chinese, Indian and Peranakan food, Penang’s best eats can be discovered throughout the city. Dine alfresco style at Gurney Drive, which offers a variety of street and hawker food. Penang is famed for its Char Koay Teow (fried rice cake strips), Koay Teow Th’ng (soupy rice cake strips), Assam Laksa (spicy fish noodle soup), Mee Goreng (fried yellow noodles), Teochew Chendol (an icy dessert with coconut milk, liquid palm sugar and red beans) and Oh Chien (fried oyster omelette). Savoury or sweet, there is something for everyone in Penang.
Vibrant underwater life and coral reefs thrive in Tawau, your gateway to some of the world’s best diving spots. Visit Sipadan Island where famous dive sites include a wall of colourful corals at The Drop Off and a swirling vortex of barracudas at Barracuda Point. Mataking Island offers off-the-beaten path relic dives and a chance to write a postcard and officially post it underwater. You will find the post-box located off a sunken cargo ship teeming with fish.
Cruise down the Rajang River
Take a cruise along the Rajang River – the longest river in Malaysia – for a thrilling rainforest jungle experience. Visit the longhouses that are home to the Iban people. Look out for historic architectural monuments that were erected as tributes to Charles Brooke, the last White Rajah of Sarawak. Trek through the jungle to catch a glimpse of the elusive hornbill. Have fun exploring quaint shop-houses and markets down river.
