Malaysia Airlines Flies the Last Batch of National Contingents to Tokyo Olympic 2020

 

 

KLIA, 25 July 2021: Malaysia Airlines, the official airline partner for the Olympic Council Malaysia (OCM) is honoured to fly the third and last batch of national contingents to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, this morning.

 

The flight MH070 departed KL International Airport at 9.50am carrying 15 officials including Malaysia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Dato' Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican. The flight is scheduled to arrive in Narita at 6.05pm, local time.

 

As a show of support to the Malaysian athletes, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Senator Wan Ahmad Fayhsal; Secretary General Youth and Sports Ministry, Datuk M Noor Azman Bin Taib and Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines, Captain Izham Ismail, were present at KL International Airport.

 

The casual send-off was conducted with strict adherence to safety and health SOPs to ensure the wellbeing and comfort of all contingents. In addition to the existing safety and health protocols, the flight is operated by vaccinated pilots and cabin crew, ensuring maximum safety of the national athletes and other passengers.

We understand how much it takes for them to brave through the challenges in their preparations and as they participate in the Olympics 2020. It is an honour to be selected as the official airline for the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) and to collaborate with our partner, Japan Airlines and Malaysia Airports Berhad, in ensuring safe journey for all 64 national contingents and officials from day one, so they can be at ease to perform during the games, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic season.”
