How does it work?

Step 1: Book an international flight on Malaysia Airlines, our partner Emirates or other airlines from our ticket offices and travel agents outside of Asean.*

Step 2: Along with the international ticket, purchase your Asean Airpass coupons. Price of the coupons will be based on the zone of travel, cabin class that you choose and airline you’re travelling on.

Where can I buy Asean Airpass?
You can buy Asean Airpass coupons from Malaysia Airlines ticket offices and Malaysia Airlines-appointed travel agents outside of Asean.  The coupon purchase must be made at the point of purchasing your intended international ticket.

Price of the coupons will be based on the zone of travel, cabin class that you choose and airline you’re travelling on. 


Where can I travel to with the Asean Airpass?
Asean countries you can travel to include Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Brunei.

 

Which flights are the Asean Airpass coupons valid on?
You can use the coupons on MH operated flight numbers.


Can I purchase 2 coupons?
You can buy a minimum of 2 coupons. However, purchase of 2 coupons does not permit return to point of origin, for example: 

Permitted:

  • Kuala Lumpur to Kuching – Kuching to Singapore

Not Permitted:

  • Kuala Lumpur to Kuching – Kuching to Kuala Lumpur


Can I purchase more than 2 coupons? 
Yes you can, but only a maximum of 5 coupons can be purchased. For purchase of more than 2 coupons, return to point of origin in Asean is allowed.

Example of trips with 3 Coupons:

  • Kuala Lumpur to  Kota Kinabalu – Kota Kinabalu to Singapore – Singapore to Kuala Lumpur

Example of trips with 4 Coupons:

  • Kuala Lumpur to Kuching – Kuching to Singapore – Singapore to Kuching – Kuching to Kuala Lumpur  

Example of trips with 5 Coupons:

  • Kuala Lumpur to Miri – Miri to Singapore – Singapore to Kuala Lumpur - Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok  - Bangkok – Kuala Lumpur

Can I buy 4 coupons to construct 2 trips to the same destination?
 Yes you can. Example:

  • Kuala Lumpur to Singapore (stopover allowed) – Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (stopover allowed) – Kuala Lumpur to Singapore (stopover allowed) – Singapore to Kuala Lumpur

 

Is there a minimum coupon value that needs to be purchased?
Yes, at least USD60 for Economy Class and USD280 for Business Class.

 

The prices indicated are for flights departing from Kuala Lumpur, so what pricing should be used for the return portion?
The prices indicated are in USD per sector and applicable for the opposite direction as well.

 

Can I combine Business Class and Economy Class on different sectors?
Mixed cabin bookings are not allowed. The complete journey has to be booked in the same cabin class and valid for Q-Rbd for Economy Class and Z-Rbd for Business Class cabin only.

 

How long is the Asean Airpass valid for?
It carries the same validity period as the main international conjunction ticket.

 

Once it is issued, can I get a refund?
For fully unutilized Asean Airpass, the refund rules of the international ticket apply. Partially utilized ones are however non-refundable.



Do I need to book all sectors and can I make flight changes?
Yes, all sectors need to be booked and ticketed before commencing the international journey. Changes can be made via the issuing airline of the main international ticket. If you want Malaysia Airlines to make the change, then there will be additional charge of USD20 per Economy Class and USD50 per Business Class.

 

How much baggage can I bring while using the Asean Airpass?
The amount you can carry will be based on the baggage allowance indicated on the international ticket by the issuing airline, failing which the standard Malaysia Airlines flight allowance of 30kg for Economy Class and 40kg for Business Class will apply.

 

Can I use this to fly on Garuda Indonesia flights between Kuala Lumpur – Jakarta using the GA Codeshare?
No, Asean Airpass can be used only for flights operated by Malaysia Airlines (MH).
