Malaysia Airlines Offers up to additional 10,000 seats for Chinese New Year
KLIA, 28 November 2018: Malaysia Airlines will be operating extra flights to selected domestic and international destinations to cater to the surge in demand for air travel during the Chinese New Year holidays.
A total of 9980 additional seats are being offered by the national carrier through 38 extra flights and 30 upgraded flights to be operated from 1 until 10 February 2019.

The 30 return flights that will be upgraded from the 160-seater B737-800 to the 290-seater A330-300 aircraft are for the following routes:

Malaysia Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer Izham Ismail said, “We are delighted to increase our seat capacity to key destinations to enable our customers to return home and celebrate the festivities with their family and loved ones. Last year we offered 2000 extra seats over Chinese New Year, and today, we are offering close to five times the capacity with competitive prices. As the national airline we are committed to ensuring capacity to meet demands whilst also being mindful of competitive pricing during the peak season. We will continue to monitor the demand and will offer additional flights, if necessary, to facilitate travels during the upcoming holiday period.”
Malaysia Airlines will also be having some great deals for those planning to ‘balik kampung’ over the Chinese New Year holidays. From as low as RM179 all-in one-way, guests can fly to Langkawi, Kota Bharu, Terengganu and Kuantan from Kuala Lumpur on Economy Class. Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, Miri, Bintulu and Labuan start from as low as RM229 all-in one-way whereas flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu start from as low as RM279 all-in one-way.
Alongside these great deals, the airline will also be serving special festive delicacies, including Yee Sang, on-board during the period. All meals come together with complimentary baggage allowance of 20kg on Economy Class and in-flight entertainment.
