Quarantine Order for Passengers
Entering Malaysia

The Government of Malaysia has imposed a 14-day mandatory quarantine for passengers arriving into the country, with effect on 3 April 2020. Upon arrival, passengers will undergo screening by the Malaysian health authorities before being sent to designated government quarantine centres.

This requirement applies to:

  • Malaysian citizens (no cost to be charged)
  • Diplomats, diplomatic and consular staff (A minimum cost of MYR150 to be borne by respective individuals)
  • Foreigners including Permanent residents and dependents of Long Term Pass holders (A minimum cost of MYR150 to be borne by respective individuals)

Effective 18 May 2020, holders of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) pass listed by Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture are allowed entry into Malaysia, subject to existing regulations by the Department of Immigration Malaysia.  MM2H pass holders must be tested negative of COVID-19 14 days prior to arrival into Malaysia before being allowed entry. They will also bear their own cost for quarantine at the designated centres.

Passengers with onward domestic connections are also required to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine before being allowed to proceed to their domestic destinations. However, passengers with connections to Sabah and Sarawak are allowed to proceed and undergo quarantine in the respective states.

These passengers are required to show their valid travel document to transit at KLIA within 24 hours and are not allowed to leave the airport building.

Family members are advised by the government not to turn up at the airport as the passengers will be sent straight to the quarantine centres. Passengers may contact the National Disaster Management Agency at +603-8064 2400 or [email protected] / [email protected] for any enquiries.
