Melbourne

SOPHISTICATED CULTURE CAPITAL

Hop on Melbourne's signature and free City Circle tram to experience life by the Yarra River. Start your visit with a good look at the river from the Prince’s Bridge in this city famous for the Melbourne Cup and Australian Open Tennis. Then go for a bird's eye view at the 984-feet Eureka Tower. Or begin your exploration of the city's persona at Federation Square, which hosts over 2000 events a year and celebrated as ‘Melbourne's Meeting Place'. Culture and history fans would love the National Gallery of Victoria, Ballarat, Melbourne Museum, haunting Old Melbourne Gaol and Chinese Museum, home to Dai Loong, the world's largest dragon.

Stop to shop at the Bourke and Collins Street, then head down to the Royal Botanical Gardens, where the Government House is located and Fitzroy Gardens, where Cook's Cottage is located, to take in some fresh air. Drive a scenic hour on the Great Ocean Route, passing the fascinating Twelve Apostles rock formation out to the Macedon Ranges, Australia's spa capital. Nature enthusiasts can venture to the Grampians National Park to discover the native wildlife and aboriginal art sites. Before you head home select a souvenir or two at the Queen Victoria Market.
