Adelaide

ESSENTIAL SOUTH AUSTRALIA – OCEAN TO OUTBACK

Sunshine and sport, wildlife and wine, beaches and beer, culture and cuisine – Adelaide has it all. Renowned for its relaxed alfresco lifestyle and a packed year round calendar of festivals, shows and sporting events, Adelaide also has a pumping culinary heartbeat, and with something in the region of 700 restaurants, you are quite literally spoilt for choice.

Putting city culture to one side for a moment, 20 minutes is all it takes before you can feel the sand between your toes at one of four beaches that fringe the city. Explore Henley, Brighton, Semaphore or Glenelg where you can also swim with dolphins. Heading 20 minutes in the opposite direction and you can cuddle a koala at Cleland Wildlife Park or play golf at a world class club.

But all this activity can make you thirsty so it’s good to know that 200 cellar doors are within an hour’s drive and that Cooper’s, Australia’s largest brewery and which is still family owned, is on the city outskirts.

Meanwhile, a short hop from Adelaide (a 20 minute flight to be precise), is Kangaroo Island famed as much for its beautiful white sandy beaches as for its awesome national parks filled with free roaming native wildlife. There’s also fishing, sand boarding and hiking to be enjoyed as well as gourmet food and wine, and world class award winning accommodation.
