Malaysia Airlines Launches Going Places iPad App

Subang, 18 February 2011 : Now, you will never miss a single issue of Malaysia Airlines in-flight magazine ‘Going Places’. With the new Going Places iPad Application, users can now browse through Malaysia Airlines’ inflight magazine, conveniently, wherever they are. Malaysia Airlines is the first airline in Asia to place an airline’s inflight magazine using the Apple iPad application.

Malaysia Airlines in-flight magazine ‘Going Places’ has always been a favourite for our passengers. However, some passengers had in the past expressed their disappointment at missing some of the monthly issues. ‘Going Places’ being a travel magazine contains interesting travel destinations, festivals and happenings around the world and travel tips – all useful both for the business and leisure passengers.

The new Going Places iPad application is available for download, at no charge from the Apple iTunes Store.  Just type ‘GOING PLACES’ on the search bar to access the Going Places Jan 2011 issue, it’s that easy!

Apart from the magazine, you can also access MAS Select Inflight Entertainment Guide, to find out what movies you can watch on your trip for Jan 2011, as well as Malaysia Airlines Guide which contains fleet, route and travel tips. Monthly issues and updates will be available whenever the user’s iPad is synchronized. Alternatively, the information can be directly downloaded from the Apple iTune Store.

Malaysia Airlines Executive Vice President, Communications, Raja Zamilia Raja Dato’ Seri Mansur said, “MAS chose the iPad because of the phenomenal growth of users in such a short time. As a platform, the iPad allows us to increase our range and reach new customers. It also allows our users a more comfortable, portable, convenient access to our magazine and some insight into our in-flight offerings, for their next trip.

“Apart from the enhanced customer experience, this new application is our commitment to delivering an innovative, interactive and engaging experience for customers during their journey with us,” she said.

The eMagazine features interactive touch navigation and is viewable both in portrait and landscape mode.  Videos and picture gallery are also available where indicated with the appropriate icons.  Users can check out photos of Malaysia Airlines’ new B737-800 aircraft as well as photos on the priority transfers using the Porsche Panamera. Other items available include Movie Trailers and the Prodigious Art picture gallery. This offering has been made available through the national carrier’s partnership with mobile application specialist Terato Tech Sdn Bhd.

Currently there are three other Apple-friendly applications from Malaysia Airlines, available to be downloaded in Apple App Store. In 2009, Malaysia Airlines launched the hugely popular MHmobile for i-phones, which enables travellers to book flights and access up to date travel information while on the move. The app was later made available for iPad, as MHmobile for iPad. In the same year, Malaysia Airlines launched the first app using augmented reality, MHdeals, to purchase flight tickets in a fun and interactive way, making it the world's first airline to do so.
