Malaysia Airlines Celebrates the Latest Cabin Crew Graduation

Kelana Jaya, 25 November 2011 : Malaysia Airlines yesterday celebrated the graduation of 34 cabin crew who completed the ‘Initial Cabin Crew Training’ programme conducted at Malaysia Airlines Academy, Kelana Jaya. They will be joining the thousands of other Cabin Crew in the airline and will be serving customers on various domestic and international routes to showcase the national carrier’s continued commitment quality service delivery with strong emphasis on safety.

The graduating cabin crew went through 78 days of various training modules including Corporate Induction, Grooming, Basic Customer Service, Fundamentals of Hospitality, Introduction to Aviation, Cabin Familiarization and Service Procedures. Every trainee has to pass a series of assessments to attain the service standards required to go ‘online’.

They also undergo the “Get Speaking Right” course to hone their skills for efficient and effective interaction. Nevertheless, the safety aspect is also not forgotten as it is a vital attribute required of a cabin crew. All graduates must have a compulsory excellent pass in Safety and Emergency Procedures handling.

Malaysia Airlines’ Head of Customer Experience, Dato’ Mohd Salleh Ahmad Tabrani said, “The role of a cabin crew is vital, especially in today’s competitive airline industry. You are our key front line staff and ambassador, for Malaysia Airlines and our country. It is important for you to remember, that when we sell an air ticket to a customer, we are not just selling a seat on board the aircraft, but we are also selling a set of high quality services that comes together with that seat. As a premium airline, our cabin crew must consistently deliver high quality customer experience to all of our valued customers.”

“Continuous improvement on our high quality in-flight services, delivered by our best trained cabin crew, is critical for our future competitive advantage and success. We are confident that with your commitment, determination, focus and team effort, we will be able to regain the “World’s Best Cabin Staff” award in 2011, and consistently retain the number one position for many years to come,” added Dato Salleh.

In conjunction with the graduation ceremony, senior cabin crew were also honoured with a ‘pin’ under the ‘Food, Tea & Coffee and Wine’ programme series. Accredited crew on these series will enhance their knowledge on food and beverages and at the same time ensure that they are at par with the current aviation service industry and gastronomic world.

Malaysia Airlines has also encourages its cabin crew to undergo foreign language courses such as German, Spanish, French and Arabic. The programme provides an opportunity for the crew to be multi-lingual and communicate with the majority of foreigners travelling on Malaysia Airlines.

Malaysia Airlines Cabin Crew have established a consistent record of providing one of the highest standards of in-flight service in the airline industry and have been awarded “World’s Best Cabin Staff” recognition by Skytrax over six years, 2001-  2004, 2007 and 2009 – the most for any airline.
