Malaysia Airlines Staff Corporate Challenge Day A Rousing Event
Subang, 02 April 2011 : In their quest to inculcate innovation and foster better team-working towards a common goal whilst building a closer rapport amongst employees, Malaysia Airlines recently organized their first ever, Corporate Challenge Day which was held on Saturday, 2 April 2011 in Subang. The event which was attended by 6,000 employees and their family members, was officiated by the airlines’ Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin.
A total of 14 divisional booths were set up to showcase the airlines’ products, services and teams’ innovative ideas. It was an interesting ‘show & tell’ concept where the employees family members, had the opportunity to view how the airline operates. Malaysia Airlines’ Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin and Board Member, Mr Keong Choon Keat, were also given the honour of being judges to decide the best corporate booth and best war cry performance of the day.
Each division had specific activities to draw the employees and their families to the booth. There were Airbus engine parts on display, a remote control helicopter being flown, cultural performances from East Malaysia, trivia questions, lucky draws, food sampling and giveaways to children. In addition chocolates, fragrances, local delights, souvenirs and apparels were also on sale. The oneMH team energy levels hit a high during the judges walkabout, as teams tried their best to outdo one another in their war cry performance, whilst explaining the theme concept for each booth and highlighting the various activities on hand.
Malaysia Airlines Executive Vice President, Human Capital, Raja Azura Raja Mahayuddin said, “Amongst the other objectives of this challenge day, is to provide all employees, through their respective divisions, an opportunity to showcase innovative ideas and to sell their department initiatives, taking and meeting challenges as well as encouraging a competitive spirit within the organization that would eventually result in the Company’s growth.”
The Champion of the Challenge was awarded to Commercial Strategy and they received RM3000 and a Challenge Trophy. First-runner-up was accorded to the Director Of Operations Office and Airport Operations was placed as Second Runner-up, whilst Sales and Marketing was awarded with The Most Happening booth.
