Malaysia Airlines Receives International And National Recognitions

Subang, 29 June 2011 : Malaysia Airlines is continuing its record achievements and winning streaks for 2011 by receiving both an international and national recognition this month.

The national carrier’s engineering subsidiary, Malaysian Aerospace Engineering (MAE), was acknowledged as the top airline affiliated Maintenance and Repair Organisation (MRO) in the world by Aviation Week’s Overhaul & Maintenance magazine.

This globally reputed Mc Graw Hill monthly publication also ranked MAE number three among the top 10 Airframe MRO in the world.

Commenting on this recognition, Malaysia Airlines Chairman Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid said, “This fine achievement by MAE’s staff shows the qualities of a global and regional champion, a national objective aspired by the Malaysian corporate sector as the country moves towards a services-based Knowledge-Economy.”

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines’ monthly inflight magazine ‘Going Places’ scooped the ‘Award of Excellence’ for the magazine category at the KL Mayor Tourism Awards 2011 held in Kuala Lumpur on 21 June 2011,

The ‘Award of Excellence’ was in recognition of Going Places’ consistent promotion of Kuala Lumpur as a preferred tourist destination by highlighting tourism products and services as well as events held in the city. The judging criteria covered overall content, presentation, distribution and reach as well as quality of material used.

Winning recognitions is not new to the national carrier. Just recently Going Places was voted to the third position of the ‘Regional Travel magazine of the Year’ category in the annual “Magazine of the year” survey by the ‘Advertising + Marketing’ monthly in Malaysia. In May 2011, Malaysia Airlines received the Malaysian Institute of Directors’ "Innovative Leadership in Globalisation” award for the airline sector, in recognition of it consistent perseverance, discipline, endurance and investment for leading international excellence and achievements in various aspects of commercial airline operations.
