Malaysia Airlines Launches A New Training Centre
Subang, 24 January 2011 : Malaysia Airlines (MAS) , proudly marked another step towards becoming the undisputed leader in the aviation industry in Malaysia by stepping up on its pilots training centre. In a modest ceremony, MAS together with CAE, a world leader in providing simulation and modelling technologies and integrated training solutions, held a small opening and launching ceremony of its new B738 simulation training centre in Glenmarie, Subang.
The new training centre, maintained and operated by CAE, features a CAE 7000 Series Boeing 737-800 Level D full-flight simulator (FFS) and a CAE SimfinityTM Boeing 737-800 Integrated Procedures Trainer (IPT) acquired from CAE in November 2009.
The High Commissioner of Canada, His Excellency Mr. Randolph Mank graced the event as the honoured guest. Also present at the event was the Senior Trade Commissioner of Canada, Mr. Douglas R. Bingeman.
Mr. Jeff Roberts, CAE Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services in his opening speech commended MAS as the training centre was built in record time.
"MAS has been a great customer of CAE since our first sale of simulation equipment 28 years ago," said Roberts. “Advanced flight simulators are essential to the safe and efficient operations of airlines around the world. Simulation-based training ensures that new pilots required to meet growing demands, as well as more experienced pilots, are regularly trained and re-trained in essential skills and decision-making judgement.”
Roberts was optimistic about the aviation industry, citing a global growth trend which is expected to increase the demand of pilots to approximately 18,000 yearly. “One of the highest rates of pilot growth will come from Asia for both passenger and cargo traffic,” he added.
MAS CEO, Tengku Dato’ Seri Azmil Zahruddin remarked that the launch of this training centre marked the start of future growth and innovation in MAS. “It is a very significant and important event for us as this marks the beginning of new aircrafts coming into our fleet,” said Tengku Azmil.
“The relationship also marks the more innovative, professional and international way MAS is moving forward in terms of business operations. “It is necessary for airlines to do things in a new way, to work with partners and ensure that they meet our high safety standards. It is a big step for us,” added Tengku Azmil.
