It's All Systems go for Malaysia Airlines' Hajj Operations 2011
Subang, 09 September 2011 : Malaysia Airlines has finalized preparations to commence its 2011 Hajj Charter Flights for Lembaga Tabung Haji to be operated direct between 6 cities in Malaysia and Jeddah and Medina in Saudi Arabia. Malaysia Airlines has been operating the Haji Charter Flights for Lembaga Tabung Haji for several years and this year the airline has two dedicated MH B747-400 aircraft from its own fleet to be used for this hajj movement.
For the first phase from 29 September to 30 October this year, the national carrier will operate 11 flights from KLIA, 8 from Penang, 7 from Kuala Terengganu, 6 from Johor Bahru and 3 each from Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. The second phase flights from Saudi Arabia to Malaysia will be from 12 November to 10 December 2011.
The first flight, MH 8000 is scheduled to depart KLIA for Medina on 29 September 2011.Through this hajj movement, Malaysia Airlines will transport around 14,000 pilgrims in each phase of the outbound and inbound flights.
To ensure customers enjoy premium travel hospitality, Malaysia Airlines has made elaborate plans to provide them superior ground and in-flight service. All seats in these aircraft are fitted with a TV screen, providing passengers the choice to view video programmes specially selected for this service. Likewise passengers will also enjoy many dedicated audio programmes ranging from classical instrumentals, Nasyid selections to Quranic verses during the flights.
A ‘Doa Musafir’ will precede each flight departure and all flight safety demonstrations by the cabin staff will be done in Bahasa Malaysia for easy understanding by the passengers. There will be also inflight announcement of the time for reciting the “niat of ihram” (miqat) by the passengers.
