Malaysia Airlines Features Malaysian Celebrity Chef’s Menu

Subang, 2 December 2013: Beginning today, Malaysia Airlines will be serving dishes prepared by Celebrity Chef and Masterchef Malaysia Judge, Chef Zubir Zain.

Chef Zubir’s creations will be served on-board the national carrier’s First and Business Class from Kuala Lumpur to London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

Chef Zubir has worked with several international five-star hotels prior to opening his restaurant, Laman Seri Grill, in Shah Alam, Selangor. He also has won numerous awards, including ‘Chef of the Year’ in 2005 from the Chef Association of Malaysia for his dedication and contribution over 19 years in the hospitality industry. Chef Zubir is also recognized for his active participation of many cooking competitions, such as the European Culinary Competition in Vienna and the Australian Black Box Culinary Competition (Malaysia Chapter), as well as being the Malaysian National Culinary Team Captain for the past 8 years.

According to Malaysia Airlines’ Director of Customer Services, Dato’ Mohd Salleh Ahmad Tabrani, “This initiative is part of Malaysia Airlines’ series of service improvements for our guests. Talented Chef Zubir brings years of culinary experience, and we feel strongly that his touch to our in-flight meals will give our guests a brand new dining experience.”

For the next 9 months, Malaysia Airlines will be serving three special main course dishes created by Chef Zubir — sumptuous Chili-Tomato Jam glazed Roasted Cod Fish with Roesti Potato,Orange Scented Vichy Carrot and Green Peas Coulis, Braised lamb shank in coriander tomato juice, complemented with Mediterranean vegetables-eggplant mille feuille, butter cheese tortellini and lemon gremolata and Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs with Warm Potato Onion Salad, sautéed fennel and seasonal vegetables.

Malaysia Airlines has embarked on several F&B initiatives, including a collaboration with Chef Amandine Chaignot, the current Chef of Le Raphaël restaurant in Paris. Chef Amandine’s dishes were introduced in April 2013 for guests flying from Paris to Kuala Lumpur.

In February 2014, one of UK's most esteemed chefs and restaurateurs, Chef Richard Corrigan, will create a limited edition in-flight menu for Malaysia Airlines’ First and Business Class A380 service from London to Kuala Lumpur.
