Opulence on the desert

The desert truly comes alive in Dubai where the world's tallest tower and the first seven-star hotel are built. To get your grip on the immense fantasy that becomes Dubai, go first to Burj al-Arab, the most luxurious hotel in the world. Then head towards the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building housing the first Armani Hotel. The Jumeirah Mosque is another must see – a fantastic example of modern Islamic architecture.

There are two main sightseeing areas in Dubai, Deira and Bur Dubai. Go to Deira to shop in its many souqs and its lively atmosphere. View the Bohemian Bastakiya Quarter's ecologically sound homes. Stop for a little history at the Al-Fahadi Fort that houses the Dubai Museum and the Grand Mosque.

Don't forget to drop by the Heritage and Diving Villages that will give you a remarkable insight into the Bedouin way of life. Venture a little outside the city and you'll find the largest man-made islands – Palm Islands and the Jumeirah Beach.
