Malaysia Airlines at CIMB - Classic, Malaysia 2012

Subang, 06 October 2012 : Malaysia Airlines is once again the official airline partner of the prestigious CIMB Classic 2012 to be held from 25 to 28 October at The Mines Resort & Golf Club, Selangor.

The biggest golf tournament in Southeast Asia sanctioned by the PGA TOUR features 48 players with names like Bo Van Pelt, Jason Dufner, Rickie Fowler and Tiger Woods.

Malaysia Airlines is one of the main sponsors of this exclusive tournament. Committed to the sponsorship for three years from 2010 to 2012 as official airline partner, Malaysia Airlines provides premium air transportation for the players and officials involved to fly into and out of Malaysia for this tournament.

The tournament offers a total prize purse of US$6.1 million, with the overall winner picking up US$1.3 million, the richest winner’s prize purse for a golf tournament in the region.

By sponsoring this event, the national carrier aims to leverage on the rights and benefits to position its brand growth presence against the front end and corporate air travel market.

Apart from the airfare sponsorship, Malaysia Airlines is making its corporate presence at the event venue through several initiatives, including regular mention during the live event broadcast and telecast as well as the hosting of a Malaysia Airlines Hospitality Marquee.

Malaysia Airlines has been a consistent participant in Malaysia's sports tourism activities by being the official airline for events like The Monsoon Cup and Le Tour de Langkawi.

Malaysia Airlines’ travel arm MASholidays is one of the tour operators of the Malaysia Golf Tourism Association, in support of golf tourism which is one of the Economic Entry Point (EPP) project under the National Key Economic Area of the government’s Economic Transformation Plan.

The national airline has also supported the Malaysian government's call for corporate assistance to the Malaysian athletes during the Olympics and Paralympic games between July and September this year.
