a. A briefcase (not more than 4kg or 9lbs in weight).

b. A notebook or laptop computer (not more than 4kg or 9lbs in weight, including case and accessories in dedicated computer bag).

c. A small camera bag.

2. An infant amenities bag (containing infant food for consumption on board and nappies during flight) and/or small infant carry cot or fully collapsible baby stroller (on wide body aircraft only and subject to space availability).

3. A handbag (male/female).

4. One (1) duty free shopping bag for goods purchased at the airport.

5. Walking stick / crutches.

6. An overcoat.

We recommend you take anything you may need on the flight with you, including medication and keys. All medication should have a professional pharmaceutical label on the container if you are transporting medication in your carry-on luggage. If you require a medical syringe, you must have the needle guard intact.

Cabin baggage must be stowed underneath the seat in front of the passenger or in the overhead compartment. Please note that security risk items such as knives, nail clippers, blades, or any sharp and/or pointed objects must be removed from cabin baggage and packed in checked baggage. You must be able to activate any electronic devices at the security checkpoint. If you are unable to do so, you must pack these items in your checked baggage.

At the check-in counter
Please ensure that you declare all your cabin baggage (including all additional items allowed onboard) at the check-in counter. You will be required to check-in your excess baggage and pay any excess baggage charges accordingly.

Compliance to baggage Policy
We will perform our checking to ensure passengers are complying strictly to our cabin baggage policy during check-in and prior to boarding.

During check-in, passengers are required to declare all their cabin baggage (including additional items allowed onboard). If exceeded the allowed limits, it must be checked-in and pay any excess baggage charges accordingly.

Similarly at the boarding gate, any cabin baggage that exceeds the allowed limits will be collected and loaded into the aircraft cargo compartment.  You will be required to pay any excess baggage charges accordingly.

For the safety and comfort of both our crew and passengers, Malaysia Airlines will retain the sole discretion to decide whether any item shall be permitted into the cabin or to be carried as checked baggage

For security reasons, certain restrictions have been introduced to limit the amount of liquids, aerosols and gels (LAG) that passengers may include in their cabin baggage on international flights.

  • LAG items such as drinks, creams, perfumes, sprays, gels and toothpaste must be in containers that have a maximum capacity of 100 ml/mg.
  • All LAG containers should fit comfortably in a transparent resealable plastic bag.
  • Each passenger is limited to only one transparent resealable plastic bag with a volume no greater than one litre. Bags such as freezer bags (20 cm x 20 cm or 25 cm x 15 cm) sold in most supermarkets are ideal for this purpose.
  • Please ensure that the circumference of the four sides of the transparent resealable plastic bag does not exceed 80 cm.

At the international departure gate screening point you should remove the resealable bag from your Cabin-baggage so that it can be screened separately. Airport screening staff have the last word on what constitutes a liquid, aerosol or gel and will ensure that all such items are removed and disposed of.

  • E-cigarettes including e-cigars and other personal vaporizers containing batteries must be removed and safely stowed in carry-on or cabin baggage only. These items MUST not be placed in your checked baggage.

  • Smoking and recharging of these devices are not permitted onboard an aircraft.

  • Must be carried in your carry-on baggage only, with a maximum of 2 (two) spare lithium batteries permitted.
  • Must be individually protected to prevent short circuits by placement in the original retail packaging or by otherwise insulating the terminals, e.g. by taping over exposed terminals or placing each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective pouch.
  • Must meet the following lithium content and Watt-hour rating requirements:
    • For lithium metal or lithium alloy batteries,  a lithium content exceeding 2 g,  but not exceeding 8 g.
    • For lithium ion batteries, a watt-hour rating exceeding 100 Wh, but not exceeding 160 Wh.
  • Small Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) such as mobile phones, smartphones, mini-tablets, e-readers or MP3 players can become a potential fire hazard if they inadvertently slip or are dropped, crushed and damaged between your seat, especially an electrical adjustable seat.

  • To prevent crushing, do not move the seat! You must also not use the electrical or mechanical seat functions in an attempt to retrieve the PED.

  • Call our cabin crew for assistance. Identify the item, and where you suspect it may have dropped or slipped into.

  • Cabin crew may need to move you and the passenger seated next to you away from the affected area.

Articles containing lithium batteries such as power banks, the primary purpose of which is to provide power to another device, are permitted in carry-on baggage only.
