23 February 2013, Sepang: Malaysia Airlines' fifth Airbus A380, the flagship aircraft and pride of Malaysia, arrived today in KL International Airport (KLIA) from Toulouse, France.
The aircraft was commanded by a team of technical crew comprising of Dato Ahmad Zuraidi, Abu Bakar Shafie and Captain Ahmad Dzulkarnain Hj Hussien and First Officer Afif Afham.
With the arrival of this fifth aircraft, Malaysia Airlines is now all set to operate daily A380 Kuala Lumpur - Paris - Kuala Lumpur services beginning 1 March 2013. The French capital is the second European destination after London in the national flag carrier’s long haul network to be operated by the superjumbo. The 494-seater Airbus 380 daily services to Paris will be rolled out to replace the current 282 seat B777 operations, increasing daily seat capacity by 75% effective 1 March 2013.
Economy class travel from Kuala Lumpur on the state-of-art A380 is now possible at all inclusive return airfares starting from only RM3681. Meanwhile, the all-inclusive promotional return fares forBusiness Class from Kuala Lumpur to Paris starts from only RM15026, while return First Class fares start from RM 31491.
The A380 service has thus far received encouraging response from customers for both Kuala Lumpur-Paris and Paris-Kuala Lumpur sectors. Booking trends for March 2013 shows a positive hike by 87% for Kuala Lumpur - Paris route and a stunning 123% growth for Paris - Kuala Lumpur route as compared to bookings in March 2012. Malaysia Airlines membership of the oneworld alliance from 1 February 2013 also contributed to this positive development.

Malaysia Airlines’ A380 has a seat configuration of 494 comprising 8 First Class and 350 Economy Class seats on the main deck and 66 Business Class and 70 Economy Class seats on the upper deck. It is the eighth operator of this super-jumbo.
