Course Description
Level 1 Flight Operations Management teaches students the workflow processes and protocols of an international Airline Operations Centre (AOC). Students learn about the duties and responsibilities of the flight operations officer (dispatcher) and other positions within the AOC. Level 1 Flight Operations Management meets ICAO Level 2 expertise criteria set forth in the ICAO Training Manual for Flight Operations Officers and Dispatchers, Part D-3. Students graduate with a basic knowledge of commercial aviation dispatch procedures, work rules, local and international regulations, and the terms and language used in the AOC. Graduates of Level 1 Flight Operations Management are prepared and ready to become effective contributors to AOC operations.
Course Content
Level 1 Flight Operations Management teaches students the history of commercial aviation; basic aerodynamics and aircraft performance; form of the earth and basic navigation; basic meteorology; standard flight planning procedures and protocols; international law; regulations; and governing agencies. Students are engaged in workshop sessions, putting new skills and knowledge to work and measuring and evaluating the results. The course content is broad, giving students an excellent understanding of what is expected from new AOC personnel.

Airlines staff transferring into the AOC; new hires assigned to the AOC; current members of the AOC who wish to increase their knowledge, effectiveness and productivity; and flight crew members for a better understanding of the services and responsibilities given to flight operations officers.
