Keong Choon Keat is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He was attached to Bristol Myers & Company Ltd. in Middlesex, England as an Internal Audit Manager in 1968 and left to join Malaysian Tobacco Company Bhd. as an Accountant in 1969. From 1974 to 1999, he was attached to UMW Holdings Group, where he held various management positions from General Manager to Director Group Accounts before being promoted to the position of Executive Director in 1988. Upon retirement in 1999, he joined a consultancy firm providing outplacement and career management consultancy services in Malaysia.
